© 2010 Steve Stanley ***published work featured on Digital Artist Magazine issue #4 CD in Gallery... ...the Hierarchy of Angels includes an intense being who is given the task of deciding who is justified and who is not. I decided to make this an exercise in sepia interpretation, using mixed media. A number of nature textures were blended in. Also, Daz 3d modeling and rendering. Airbrush, blenders, pencil, acrylic brushes, and charcoals were also added to create the tones and contrasts. Approximately 30 layers went into the final product. Approximate time to finish: 67+ hours.

There's more drama in this with the flying dirt and debris. Her wings appear angelic but her stance and facial expression suggest something more. I like the way you present contrasts in your subjects.

Nice pose Steve. I really like your color blending. Your crafting skills are really good. Also thanks for taking the time to place some comments on my efforts.

Posted 7 months ago

Hobie says:

...some really kind and supportive comments Andre, and they are humbly received. The pose was the hardest thing to work out, as am just beginning with Daz 3d. The hands were a "crafting" nightmare, but in the end, well worth it. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Eduardo Rangel says:

Thanks for your comments regarding my work! You made me notice elements and techniques used in my work I wasn't consciously aware of. This is my favorite piece. I like the "rough" approach, which is not very common in works depicting angels. It's fresh and rough, yet elegant and ambiguous in tone. An angel with an agenda...

Posted 4 months ago

Hobie says:

...indeed Eduardo, she is on a "mission", if you will. I appreciate the comments and visit, and may I also say that I'm glad to contribute new insight as well. The art realm is one we give and take from too. And from it, we grow. Thanks again.

Dragonbeast says:

Cool wings, little detail but great impact. Im also gonna give you high praise for going the hard way. Angel wings are relativ easyu when faced forwards as you could have done here. Instead you put them in a weird angle which requires alot more mork. I know this cuz I ve done angel wind in front and im currentlie working on a picture that have the wings at an angel. Its truly a pain and you have my deep respect for this image.

Posted 2 months ago

Hobie says:

...so Dragonbeast your thoughts provoke a thought. Nothing "easy' has ever been in my vocab. I wish the accomplishment were that simple. I ache and ooze the challenge most of the time, and strive to go beyond the comfort zone. But, know my own limits of frustration. Thus, let me say, the work is always rewarding when it does finally come to fruition. And can't begin to say the grateful attitude I get when comments such as yours are posted. Thanks, thanks, thanks.
