Free art programs can help you to learn a new creative skill. Here are our top five favourites for all kinds of digital artists

Serif DrawPlus Starter Edition – use this to create vector illustrations and graphics.

ArtRage 2 Starter Edition – this is a great painting program with realistic paint effects.

TwistedBrush Open Studio – this painting program has a powerful brush engine. In the free edition you get a capsule collection of brushes and you can purchase add-ons.

Chasys Draw IES is a fully featured imaging suite which includes tools for image editing, RAW conversion and much more.

The GIMP is a photo and image editor with a wide range of functionality – just remember to follow its quirky installation procedure properly!

    I think you missed out Paint.net a nice and easy to use programme that allows photo editing as well as drawing, an easier to use version of GIMP.

    “My Paint” is free and very good for sketching and painting.

    “Art Weaver Free” is good as well- like a cross between Painter and Photoshop.

    There is also “Krita” for digital painting and the free Caligra Suite is in development with some useful programs- all free.

    My daughter is doing her 12th grade project on art and she needs to do 15 hrs of field service i would like to know do ya’ll offer any programs that wi her allow it on Saturdays
