Japan art appeals roundup

Artists and illustrators the world over are using their skills to help raise awareness and funds for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in eastern Japan in March. Regular Digital Artist contributor Natsuki Otani was among the first with her Illustration Rally appeal, but here are a few others…

Apps developer PSoft is based in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, one of the areas worst affected by the disaster. They’re requesting artwork created in their beautiful Zen Brush app to form part of a fundraising app project. If you use Zen Brush to create sumi-e style artwork, then submit your art!

Meanwhile, Japan Needs Heroes is a US-based comics project set up by a variety of comics artists and with a foreword by comics legend Stan Lee. “When I was asked if I would put pen to page for this cause,” he said, “my answer was an immediate ‘of course!’ How could I not? This is too important an issue for all of us not to do our part.” The picture above is from this project.

Give Help – Get Art rewards givers with limited edition prints by US fine art photographer Wynn White.

If you’re running an art-based appeal for the Japan disaster or any other international charity relief effort, please do let me know and we’ll get it up here!
